Are you someone who gets regular massage? Perhaps between 2-4 times per month? If so you likely have a good reason physically, whether related to an persistent injury, chronic muscle pain, joint or tendon soreness, or maybe your work involves physical exertion that leaves you sore and needing the therapeutic treatment of massage. Or perhaps you seek regular massage for mental or emotional reasons – to ease the barrage of stress and anxiety that is common for so many people.
Maybe you are not one of those people who gets regular massage. For those of you, here’s a point to consider:
Regular massage changes everything.
With regular use of a therapeutic massage chair, you’ll feel the benefits in your body, energy levels, overall contentment, and clarity of mind.
The problem is that too many people consider massage an extravagance or luxury. Massage is often thought of as only something you do when pampering yourself; maybe you only get a massage when you are on vacation. However the bottom line is that if you get massages often – we’re talking every day – the benefits compound in ways that will wonderfully shock you.
So the question… How often should you use a massage chair?
From someone who sits in massage chair many times per week, and talks to people every day who do the same, the answer is unequivocally: As much as possible. The beauty of a massage chair is that it is true “on-demand” massage. No scheduling with a therapist, or drives to the gym or spa. If you own a massage chair the schedule for massage is essentially whenever you are home.
But if you are looking for some general guidelines for how often you should use a massage chair, here is guidance based on our years of experience with massage chairs – both as manufacturers as well as users.
- If you suffer from physical pain such as a sore lower back, aching shoulders, or nagging neck pain, the likely massage intervals should be between 3-4 sessions in a massage chair per week. Gauge your body and how it feels and responds to the treatments, and adjust accordingly. You’ll likely find the right balance to keep you feeling at your best physically based on the deep muscle tissue relief from a great massage chair.
- For stress relief, anxiety, or to relax, a massage chair session should be sought at any time the levels of stress rise to the point when you are aware that they are impacting your behavior or sleep patterns. Typically therapeutic sessions in a massage chair can be sought from 1 to 3 sessions per week, and likely most effective in the evening after work or before bedtime.
- When speaking to our customers, one thing is certain. Their massage chairs get used, and used regularly. Our chairs don’t just sit in the corner collecting dust or acting as a recliner – our massage chairs are designed to be used every day. The chairs are an integral part of our customers’ lives, and they depend on our massage chairs to treat a wide array of physical and emotional needs. It’s hard to over-do such a wonderful thing.
I’ve personally spoken with individuals who’s massage chair recently stopped worked and they are in a panic. Their chair is a necessity for quality of life. They use it several times a day and don’t know what they would do without it.
Our recommendation is 1st, don’t overuse your massage chair when you first get it. It’s just like working out. After your first workout in a while you probably overdo it or you’re just not used to it and you are super sore the next day which makes you not want to work out anymore. Ease into it and you will find yourself relaxing into a schedule that fits your lifestyle.
How often should you use a massage chair? For some, once a week is perfect and for others several times a day. If you find your routine there’s no such thing as “too much of a good thing”.
